About WriteGirl
The mission of WriteGirl is to empower teens through creative writing. Members are mentored by professional women writers, participate in workshops and public readings, and demonstrate improved academic performance. Every girl who has completed the WriteGirl program has not only graduated from high school, but has also enrolled in college, proving the value of the program. At the end of each season, their work is published in an annual anthology making every girl a published author. WriteGirl is a project of nonprofit Community Partners.
About Silhouette: Bold Lines & Voices From WriteGirl
Silhouette, the eighth anthology from WriteGirl, captures the perspectives of women and girls writing about love, loss, coming of age, family and friends, Los Angeles and the world around us. Silhouette celebrates the voices of teens from more than 60 different Los Angeles high schools, and women writers from top newspapers, entertainment companies and publishing organizations.
